Just found out what TDC is and applied to the zook to get her back up n running.
I have a problem when I accelerate, It surges abit but seems to go slugishly upto about 30km.
Have I got my leads around the wrong way? or did I not tme it too well.

Also if somone could tell me if the number on the lead goes to the dizzy cap no: or the spark no: Or BOTH?

Does it run smooth when idling or above 30kmh? If the leads are around the wrong way it will generally not run well.

What has changed since last time it was running properly?

From memory the lead from number 1 on the dizzy cap goes to number 1 cylinder (i.e. the cylinder nearest to the front). I am not really confident of this though.

The timing could also be way out. Where is the dizzy cap adjustment currently set to? (middle is a good place to start)

Apart from that if it only happening under hard acceleration it could be a vacuum advance problem.

It seemed to run(Idle) well till I rev, Then drops like Im revving in reverse for a second, Basically a bogged out rev. Like going uphill in 4th but worse....lol
Just got home from cricket and it wont start again! fcuk
Dizzy is in middle position. Not running the air filter atm cuase it was old and was sitting for 6 months. So vacuum should be ok unless sensors broke(dont know if these models even have sensors)

Timing is out!

I dont have a timing light, but have learned you can do an approx timing.
There are little markes on the timing cover. Cant remeber them, but the manual tells you what they are.

Line up the tdc mark on the fly wheel with the marks on the cover.
So then the mark will be lined up. suggest its at 10 degrees. Then open the dizzy cap. See where the rotor is pointing. It should just be touching the contact. (edge to edge)

If its already half way through the contact then its too advanced. So twist the dizzy clockwise a couple of mm's and do the opposite if its not touching at that mark.

I think you want around 10-12 deg befor tdc is where the rotar should just touch the no:1 contact. Guys correct me here. I forgot.

If its running, then you are close
When idling, you can adjust it too. And idle speed will go up and down. As you twist slowly. Then drive it around the block. If it pings, then its too advanced, if it is sluggish then its too "retarded". Adjust till she runs smooth.
