more than likely idle air control valve. try cleaning it with throttle body cleaner or similar. |

it could be a blocked EGR : http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,27769.0.html or the IAC: http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,22023.0.html http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,87081.0.html i'm not 100% sure how relevant those threads are as they are US based 1.6's |

Is the 93 multi-point injected? I think that idle air control post above describes the wax pellet design that is used in the throttle body injected motors. i didn't think they made it into the multi-point ones. Whatever it is it must have one of those fast idle thingy-ma-jigs that bumps the idle when theres a power draw on the system like turning the head lights on. Try disconnecting this to rule it out. |

Maybe it was coz the car didnt like being north of the city Chop The IFL can help lot's, some of the code's can take 30 cycle's to appear, so finding fault's not all way's easy.. |

whenever mine does that I clean the throttle body with contact clean and usually find a loose hose somewhere and its right the iac is controlled by the computer, for it to be switching that it has to be reading a fault somewhere |

my GV used to turn the check engine light on from time to time - i ended up finding it was a loose connection in the engine bay that worked itself loose from time to time. Wasn't noticeable at all except the check engine light turned on. Not that i'm saying the two aren't connected, just saying its a possibility. |

did you check the error code? your air flow meter could be stuffed, that's if you got one with your engine. |

Just found a crack in that resonator thingy to the side of the airbox, the thing that looks like a blob Wondering if that wouldnt be helping the cause. Chop |

Wondering if that wouldnt be helping the cause. Chop the cracked blob wouldn't help the situation, smash some silicone or insulation tape on it & see if it fixes it. |

the iac is controlled by the computer, for it to be switching that it has to be reading a fault somewhere Royce, do you spray the pretty much the whole throttle body when you clean it? I picked up some MAF cleaner and will give that a clean also, and i dont think i can get in to clean tge EGR pipes as i think my model has the tubes in the intake casting. Chop |
