Got 6 weeks off work, so I'm planning on fixing the dash up. Got a fair few jobs i want to do in there and it'll probably take me the best part of a week. Just looking for any input before i do it - as its a major job i don't want to miss anything. So far the job list is

1) Remove Dash

2) Weld in a horizontal shelf just above the glovebox to mount the ecu on (which will lift the base of the ecu about a foot higher - just in case i flood the car)

3) weld up all the small holes in the firewall that have been drilled over the years. Also weld up the windscreen vent leak that drips on my toes when it rains

4) sand back and repair any rust (i don't expect anything significant, but might as well do a proper job while its out)

5) rustproof and repaint inner firewall - wherever it is needed (will spot paint the outer firewall too)

6) apply two layers of dynamat xtreme to the inner firewall

7) Clean out heater, install "easy access" plug in the side so i can clean it easily in the future (seen this somewhere in these forums, will search for it when the time comes around)

8) Fix venting and dash controls to venting - so the right temperature air comes out the correct holes

9) Install new dash (current one is warped and looks pretty old). Still deciding whether to go with a second hand plastic dash or make an aluminium one

well, i'll look at putting some hosing to redirect it somewhere more convenient - ie: outside of the car.
