Are all commonwhore batteries the same? I mean, they've made a lot of different commonwhores over the last 32 years...

Hey guys another noobie will a battery 254mm long fit in the little zook? the one in their at the moment is an N50 230 mm long looks like the 10"(254) will fit just wondering can get a good blue top optima for good price if it will fit. Cheers again |

Commodore batteries fit, so lookup whatever size they are. If memory serves, some ppl here are running the yellow tops, are they the same size as the blue tops? Im running a commonwhore battery as my main, and an Orbital as my 2nd, both fit nicely. |

Im running a commonwhore battery as my main, and an Orbital as my 2nd, both fit nicely. x2 im going to be runnging a yellow top commo bat soon and then a standard normal commo bat as my duel but not deep cycle. |

not sure ask todd he works at battery world. Mines out of a newer one but im guessing they would all be very close to each other, as they are all the same size engine v6 still just changed a bit each year. |

Dimensions on the blue top are 254 long 171 wide and 199 high , the batt in it now is 230 x 174 x 205 so it's just the 24 mm longer and obviously heavier. |

Why not take a tape measure and measure every dimension so you know what the maximum size is. Then you'll know what will fit and what won't! |

when i got my yellow top - d34, jb hifi gave me the best price. $100 cheaper than anywhere else. dunno if there is a price diff between blue and yellow . im fairly sure they do exactly the same job. |

From what I have been told it takes longer to charge a deep cycle to full charge then a starting battery. Also I am not sure about the smaller blue tops but the bigger blue tops also have 2 extra terminals to run your accessories off. |

I run the yellow top in my stato as it doesn't get driven much. When it required a jump it only took about 10 mins to charge enough to start the car on it's own. Now I have a battery maintainer for it. |

I would be wary of using deep cycle batteries as main batteries, as stated earlier they do not have the cranking amps, this might not be so noticeable on a zook but is on larger cars. Deep cycle batteries are designed to take continual loads and can be run flat more often but are not designed for the instant large demands of a starting battery. Cheers Matt |

If its got rated CCA then the battery should probably be fine, but some deep cycle batteries will not be CCA rated, we use 50, 120 and 180AH deep cycle batteries at work and they work well on constant loads,but the other day I lent a 50AH deep cycle batt to my neighbour to start a mini excavator, it only lasted a few cranks before losing power. His battery out of his ute had no dramas, the deep cycle battery I'm still using to run my portable air compressor in the garage without having to charge it. Zooks only need a small CCA battery, some cars especially diesels require large CCA eg. 650 or greater. Cheers Matt |

Blue top has a cca of 750 and has the extra posts for auxilary wires etc it is a dual purpose crank and deep cycle.

Digging up an old thread... whats the biggest battery (not physical size, i mean CCA and rc minutes) that people have in their sierras without modifying the area it sits in? i dont want to spend a fortune on a battery so not the ultima's, and i know a bloke who runs the local dealer for 'supercharged batteries' so i can get them a little cheaper. i know the battery from my lancer fits (just) and its rated to 610 CCA and 111 RC minutes, and i know i can get one of those for well under $150, just wondering if theres bigger capacities that fit... heres how the lancer batt fits... |

your bonnet is about to catch fire as in, rotate it 180 degrees? i closed it slowly and watched as i was doing it, theres about 1cm between top of terminal and bonnet. and i use a cut up bike tube to cover the terminal in case the battery clamp breaks... and after the amount this things cost me the last few months, i might actually be glad if it catches fire

I was a passenger in a mates car, it had the battery under the seat. Nobody as big as me had travelled in it before. Travelling well, bum started getting warm, then smoke came out of back of seat. He never let me in his car again

haha, yeah i was considering making a battery holder in the back but decided against it for several reasons... i plan on rotating it 180 degrees, and using an old bike tube to cover the positive terminal (what ive always done and it works fine) are there any other issues i may come across? i'm going to be doing a 100km drive on saturday with that battery... Edit: correcting my moronic grammar and spelling
