Hello,

I've just replaced the wheel bearings on my '92 Sierra and I'm having trouble with the drivers side hub. For some reason the seal in the inside of the hub squeaks when the wheel rotates. I have pulled the hub off a few times to regrease the seal but it still squeaks. It is definately the seal as I reassembled it all in the workshop without the seal and there was no noise when I spun the wheel.

Any ideas? :?

are you sure its not the brake backing plate hitting on the disc rotor

No it's not the brake backing plate. It still squeaked after I removed the brake disc from the hub. The shaft surface looks OK where the seal runs.

I did notice that the new seal was different to the original. The original seal has an extra lip that runs against the flat face at the inboard end of axle. It looks to be more water proof than the new one. Maybe I need to buy a genuine seal.

put some grease on it and dont worry about it, after a few hundred km of road running they will bed in and stop squeling

That was my next idea. Time will tell I suppose.
