spent the last 10-15 minutes searching the forums for how to remove the rear axle seals, and i found prices, arguments and the usual weird auszookers conversations :D but nowhere says how to remove them... i dont have the proper tools, but is it as simple as prying the old one out?? i tried using the end of a hammer to try pry it out, but didnt want to pull too hard just in case... is it just pull on it until it comes out or is there something im missing?

this is the last thing i need to do to have the diff working again, and as good as its been driving mums commodore ute, im sick of going over speedbumps and watching snails overtaking me... and i miss the sand/mud :D

Pry it out, put a small'ish blade screw driver in between the seal & the housing & tap it in with a hammer, it' will bugger the seal but your replacing it anyway, then pry it out..

make sure you grease the inner edge of the seal after fitting it to the housing, if you don't it will wear out quick & in some case's sequel like a banshee.

That help??? :P :P

Yup, just rip the old one out with a screwie.
Make sure you don't gouge/scratch the diff housing when removing or you can cause all sorts of issues.

When installing the new seal, find something the same side as the seal, like a big socket. Use this as a punch with a hammer to knock it back in nice and flush.

I whack a smear of rubber grease in the housing and on the outside of the seal before installing to make installation easier.
Chuck a smear of gear oil on the sealing edge before reinstalling the axle.
