yes your demister is a rwc thing if you dont have one it then makes your car unroad worthy even though sierras have a crap demister anyway still has to be their. make sure no sharp edges and freindly enough that if you crash its not going to kill you i guess but im not sure

Keep the demister, no sharp edges, and don't make it from a reflective material like stainless.

FYI, some MDF and a few wood screws does no constitute a woodgrain dash ;) ;) :P

nope. but a good veneer does a pretty nice job. made a nice strong cabinet that looks quite good this way, and cheaper than buying proper pine. obviously doesnt look quite as good, but nice enough.

be sure to add pics of the finished product! be interesting to see a sierra with a woodgrain interior...

Have a trawl through these ADR's
http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... _adrs.aspx

Being a 410, yours will be covered by those 2nd edition; if not 3rd edition below:
http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... nline.aspx

There isn't one for dashboards as such, but it will be covered in under different ADR's for things like demister (15), instruments (21), probably even impact safety stuff?

I don't get it........to me the words practical and functional are synonymous with Suzuki's, there are a few different model dashes to choose from, you could fit any of them without too much trouble, why would you waste time and energy making a wood grain dash that I can garantee will not make that car perform any better, and I am pretty sure it wont look better either.

there are quite a few mods people do to cars that do not affect the performance of cars, merely change the look of it

this comes to personal opinion... some people paint their cars black and like it, others dont so they paint their cars silver, theres more people who dont like either, etc etc...
