so at 4:30 AM i tryed to get it going and it wouldnt crank, just made a tick noise and then .... nothing. Had a play this evening and it finally started after i held my tongue out to the left whilst standing on my right foot and jiggled my wires a bit think it liked me touching it up. Could it have just been a bad earth? or do you think its a whole lot more sinister??? |

there is a small wire and a bigger wire and some dry mud also called dirt on the end of the starter and not a lot of room in there so cant give you any more info than that (didnt get home till 6 ish and its a bit dark to see under there) |

Dirt isn't a good look mate. Give it a good clean, to the extent of taking it out and giving it a good blow out with a compressor, terminal cleaner on the terminals. Install and double check all connections are tight |

I had the same thing in my Sierra a few months ago. I had used so much degreaser under the car that there was no grime protecting the contacts and they corroded, I resurfaced them all with a file, then after bolting back up, sprayed on some silcon terminal protector to stop it happening again. all good. |

Do jimnys have the same clicky starter issues that sierras do? Sounds a lot like that. In the sierras theres a fair bit of voltage drop on the wire that runs through the ignition switch to the starter. As a result its not enough juice to turn over the starter motor so it just clicks. The work around is to use a relay and take power straight from the battery. Search clicky starter. It's that common on sierras that there's pre-made wiring looms and suzi shops. |
