Is it a steel 1l dash (square vents) or a plastic one (round vents)?
btw No tacho means no redline

Hey guys, wanna install a tacho on my 1lt to see what sort of revs it idles/runs at, etc. I was planning on putting a small 2 inch one in the air vent on the right hand side of the instrument cluster. Just wanted to know who has done this, and how did you block the vent off? as I would still like to use the other vents as the heater does work quite well when its going. and how did ya go about getting the wires into the vent as well. |

round ones. thats why i was thinking of using the vents as it would fit rather nice. |

easiest way would be to pull your dash cluster out and access it from there 
Not very complicated in there. Just a couple of dusty old vacum cleaner hoses, the ends just slip off from the back of the vents, jam you tacho in, wire it up, job done. If you are after some more ideas's, There's an awsome thread done by some bloke on here - ' maybe THE dash board thread'

awesome. thanks for that mate. ill be onto this over the weekend. Now just need to find myself a reputable brand of gauges... apparently everything supercheap sell is no good. |

you obvously have a dash without a tacho, you could track down the factory dash with Tacho and swap em over ? I've done it, very easy, bit cheaper too, the only draw back i found was my 130K car now shows 350K  on the clock ..... clicky link

yeah thats not a bad idea... would like to keep the origianl odometer though if possible, so might just go with a tacho install. |

You can wind the klms on a dash to be what ever you want it to be. Or if your good with tools they can be pulled apart and, the guts can be changed over. Just food for thought. |
