Hi Guys. Recently bought an el cheapo 99 GV LTD from the world's dodgiest dealer, so naturally there are many things that need fixing. I've been able to find the answers to most problems on this forum or in the manual, but not this time.

Firstly, the A/T throttle cable has a lot of resistance when opening and gets stuck when i fully extend it. I dont think it's outer cable as it retracts quickly if i wiggle it a bit. More likely something jamming at the other end. The manual has 0 info on it that i can see other than adjusting where it meets the throttle body.

Other problems are that it shifts up/down at too low rpm for my liking but that could be related to the problem above.
It takes 1.5-2 seconds to change from low to 2 when i move the shifter from L to 2. The manual says this is close to spec for N to D or N to R but doesn't mention L to 2.
Lastly, my "power" button doesn't do anything other than light up on the dash. But that's the least of my concerns at this point

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. And before you ask, transmission oil is full and newish and that's the first thing I checked.

Hi, have you checked for any fault codes??? not sure but it should have an electronic tranny which should provide codes if faults are present. is the rest of the engine running ok? These are geared pretty low so they do change up pretty quickly.

my auto gv changes pretty early from 1st - 2nd and really bogs down, having the power button on makes it alot better. other than that mines really good, just gutless and uses heaps of fuel, i believe its just cause its an auto. the manuals are ment to be heaps better.

Can be scary and dangerous travelling at 100kph. You can disconnect it at the throttle body and spray some lubricant down the cable. I've actual bought a new throttle cable to replace it, as it will start to stick again over time.

Thanks for the replies. Far too much beer this weekend so didn't get a chance to look at it. I'll see if i can get some lube down the outer cable and change the transmission oil anyway as it certainly couldn't make it any worse. I haven't checked the fault codes as yet because the description of the connector and shorting the wires and counting the flashes of the engine light was too confusing for my inebriated mind. I'll update the thread if I manage to find a solution.
