how much free play should there be in my 95 sierra at the moment there is free play beetween 11&1 (o'clock) on the wheel and sometimes when you turn the wheel from straight it turns realy light then binds a little then keeps turning haven t had my zook for long and wanting to know if this was normal. |

No that's excessive. Adjust the steering box. There's a spec for how much play is acceptable but it's not very much. There's a procedure based on preload to know when the box is tight enough - it's tighter than most people think. There are other sources for play like flogged ball joints etc but odds are it's the steering box. Once you run out of adjustment, they are a throw away item - there's no procedure for a rebuild. check your spring bushes in the shackle end. they flog out pretty easy |
