Is there something to flush the old oil out of the engine, or something to clean?
Do you have to be able to start the motor, or is it just a pour in let sit and drain out?

Drop your oil and fill with diesel engine oil and run it for a day. Its high detergent and will strip the crap out of the engine.

Stuff running diesil through it!!

The best method that I've come up with is...

Drain old oil, refill with fresh cheap oil, put oil flush in with it, let it idle or drive around the block a few times, drain again, remove and replace the filter, fill with quality oil.

Yep, diesel ENGINE oil, its designed to wash carbon deposits out.

i use nulon oil flush & have used diesel engine oil in older motors & it does work.

seems pretty obvious that the answer to this question is no, but just to be clear... does running with it for a day then changing back do any long term damage, or affect the engine in any other way than cleaning out the crap?

diesel oil will be fine, engine flush... not 100% sure about, i only let it idle for 1/2hr & dump it while the oil is still hot/warm

its fine to run diesel oil full time provided its spark engine rating is at least high enough for your engine, IE will be SG SH etc

its still oil jsut has better detergants and more sulphar

don't drive your car with engine flush in it, it thins the oil down a lot. Just let it idle for 10-15mins as per instructions on bottle. Once you dump the oil/ engine flush i would do another oil change very shortly after to get the last of the engine flush out.

i use 100ml of kero or diesel fuel instead of engine flush but i'm cheap

100% Recomend the diesel oil option. As long as the oil meets the requirements for your motor then it will be fine to run for a full service interval if you want. Depending on how much driving you do in a day you may want to run it for a week or more. If an oil can handle the load put on a 500hp motor pulling a heavy trailer up a range at full boost full load for 20 minutes your not going to stress it in a zook. i have used the diesel oil in my liberty to sort out an intermitant lifter noise. The oil flush (nulon etc) can be used, but they thin the oil out as said. Do not drive on the oil flush.

Be warned, using an engine flush can wash crap into the sump/other galleries or loosen carbon that results in oil leaking past seals etc. Something to consider.

Speaking of oil what works best in sierra i currently use magnatec 10 40 but have 4ltr of shell 15 40 would this be to thick.

15W40 will be fine.

a lot of diesel oils these days are designed as mixed fleet oils.
this means you can use them is petrol and diesel engines,
I run all my petrol rough terrain cherry pickers (8 in total) on valvoline super diesel full time and some of these machines have upwards of 18-20,000 hrs on the clock still running fine.
the reason we use this oil is it takes away the chance of my guys putting the wrong oil in the wrong engine and there is no wasted dreggs , we use this oil in the diesel trucks, my colorado ute, two mid 90's hiluxs and all the machinery.
only our 4.0 V6 courier gets a different oil as it requires a synthetic higher spec lower SAE oil.
