Has any one looked into fitting a panard rod to a sierra with leaf springs I have 5 inch of lift (3inch reset springs extended shackles) and I am just trying to stablize it a bit.

How long are your shackles? If you only have 3" spring lift, then your shackles would have to be 4" longer than stock to get the remaining 2" lift of the 5" you say you have. That means you have a shackle length of 170mm 8O

If this is the case, lose the shackles. they are the problem.

the extended shackles are 2 inch longer than standed superior ones with 3 inch springs makes 5 inch. The suspensions works great off road heaps of flex just want to improve the rd use a little.

Wrong. It makes 4" of lift. The shackle is only at one end of the spring. So it lifts that end by 2", it lifts the other end by 0" and the middle by1". The axle is in the middle, and so you only have 1" of lift from your 2" shackles.

The panhard will help. But can you describe the problem a little better? Does your steering feel loose?

ok long story
my caster was all wrong as when the WT diffs went in a NT chassis the perch wasnt welded in correct and had 12deg positive caster   I ground of the old perches made new ones with new 14mm u bolts and proceded to get a wheel alignment today  the guy said the rotating the diff want make any difference i said "can we please just put it on the machine and see were my caster is and let me rotate the diff, it his dispair he allowed me to set it up i had the caster a 0.03deg i want 3 deg i then rotated the diff buy hand a little to get some more positive caster, after releasing the ubolts.
Then the guy all went stupid saying it wont make any difference and refused to recheck caster saying i was wasting his time   we had to agree to disagree and i did everything back up and left with out known what i have achieved!! its feels better than the drive down to the tyre shop but not perfect i have it booked in some were else on friday to finish it properly, as it is it over steers and feels like its on ice I know the wheel alignment will make a world of difference, I have 2 sierra's now and 6 prior so I know what to expect from one.

I have just always ponded what a panard would do on a sierra hence the thread.
i have heard of guys in the states doing it and say it changes the hole ride and they steer were you point them and that would be something different wouldnt it lol

ok. It just sounds like your caster needs to be reset, as you already know.

A panhard will not help this problem. All a panhard does is control the position of the axle, relative to the chassis. So if you were running drop shackles or missing link, you may find that you got some sideways movement of the diff during articulation or cornering. A panhard may help in this situation.

Just get the caster as close to stock and it should be fine. Also check the condition of your shackle bushes.

shackles bushes are all good just went over it, while it was apart.
I am down sizing my cars, I have to many cars  and going to use this as a daily driver for awhile till my gu patrol project is complete, in the mean time, I want to get it handling better and as cheap to run as possible looking at putting gas research mixer and a small supercharger to make it drive nicer allround. it has a g16a.
I have to put kids in and missus etc need to make it a more practical instead of the basher that it has been used for. i
Its this or buy a hyundi gets I know what I prefer.
