Ok, I want to make a spring pack the same length as a hilux front 2 inch spring, but soft enough for a trayback sierra.

I have some rear OME spring packs (thanks ChrisMac) already. If I were to buy a brand new main leaf from a lux spring pack and use it as the main leaf for the sierra spring pack, would that work?

I know the lux leafs are 15mm wider than zook ones, and I need to know the total difference in length, however I can't see why it wouldn't work (assuming these points aren't issues)...

Discuss.

the width difference would make it hard to keep the narrow springs 'in line' and not twist, plus its a headache with new ubolt plates and stuff on the diff

plus you might end up with quite an amount of main leaf 'unsupported' at each end, which makes for a prime spot to bend and snap the leaves

I think a better idea would be to work out what you need in leaves to make a hilux pack a suitable rate

as above...

for making lux springs the right weight - see the thread on "what shockies do"...( http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... ic&t=13860 ) i've tried talking to so called spring manufacturers about a lux leaf with sierra rate and theyre all clueless. Atari has recommended a place though which i'll check out.

right now i'm running just the top 2 leaves of the hilux front pack in the back of mine and its still stiff - i'm going to cut the lower leaf in half so i just have the mil wrap end u-bolted in, essentially running 1.5 leaves in the rear =P

A trac bar is going to be 100% required for you linc... i had wrap when i had 4 leaves in the rear, i'd hate to imagine what theyd do now with 2 leaves =) haha

Any spring maker can make up a main and second to your spec length, width, material thickness and eye size with raised or central eyes, might surprise you how cheap too!!

^^ not from my experience... well, given i tell them the width, length and spring rate i want (they should know material thickness and number of leaves to achieve that rate).
