Hey fellas im currently doing a a engine conversion of a 97 vitara 1.6 EFI into a sierra and need some help with the wireing, ive started sorting through the wires and cut some off that i didnt seem to need. :?
The main thing that i dont have a clue about is how to get the speedo in the sierra working and people talk about a 'VSS' 8O .

Also how do you put up pictures cause i tried and failed haha  :D
Cheers

If you are using the Sierra dash and Sierra transfer case then the conversion won't effect the speedo at all.

The VSS is used to give information on the speed to the ECU. Its not required, and your car will work without it, but the ECU will throw codes, and from what I gather your economy at highway speeds will suffer...

Oh ok, so if i atach the vss to the ecu but just put it out of the way that would work? and just keep the old speedo then.
Cheers for reply

AFAIK the VSS runs off the speedo... I'm not sure on all the details as I haven't done this conversion (yet).

There are a couple of good threads on DIY VSS somewhere in the fabrication section...
