ok i think i know what the problem is but i thought i would just ask .. every now and a again my low range jumps out of low range i just put the gears in the other day and was going great then it started happping ..i think the cause of the problem would most likey be the transfer bush at " the little rubber ring at bottom of low range gear stick " when i took my gears out the old one was all broken up so i didnt have a new one so i just put it back togher with out it was all going good because i made it all greasey and sticky with some axel grese ...could not having a tranfer bushing cause the problem of jumping out of gear thanks ... |

it could be that. Did you make sure all the detent balls went back in the case when re assembling? |

it could also be that the selector ring got put in the wrong way round? i dont think they are simetrical |

hmm but why would it work at all if it was around the wrong way it seems to only be when its underload but then at other times random |

Check detent balls/springs (3 balls 2 springs for the gear lever part). The bush doesnt hold it in gear it is merely there to help guide the gear lever. So something else is forcing it to come out of gear. Does the gear shifter touch the body at all? Sometimes the body moves on the mounts causing it to "knock" the lever out. Does it occur more when going down hill then uphill? |

My boot was forcing it out of gear until I changed it for a softer one. |

Is it in highrange or lowrange when it pops out? A dodgey transfer mount could be letting the transfer move enough to knock the gear lever. |

I don't think it would be the ring? I just fitted my. 6.5s and sore that I didn't Even have one. A know a new one is about $20 because I just got one. |

good stuff i never ran the gears without the ring but it never jumped out with standard gears |
