Ok so i am in the middle of putting a sierra 1 litre 4x4 switch case in my LJ.
For those that dont know LJs use a bolt pattern on their tansfers the same as early 1 litre flanges. I i have been told that 1 litre non 4x4 switch case flanges didnt fit the 1.3 splines. so what i would like to know is what is this flange from.

it fits the 1.3 splines, but also keys up perfectly to the LJ tail shafts.
I was under the impression that no such thing existed

Looks like a WT rear output flange.

nah WT bolt spacing was huge in comparison

ummmm what do you reckon 1 litre with a switch cases run

nope, the case i have which i am re gearing is 1 litre with 4x4 switch and it has N/T flanges

its not the only one i know of that has N/Ts too

did that case come from a 1 litre with soild tailshafts? or had it been put in something else?

the rockhopper in my 1 litre was 1.3 splines, 1 litre shafts

bought from Jas so unknown what it cam out off. I'm hopeing i can gat another one so i dont have to make as many adapter plates

Post subject:  Re: transfer flange that "doesn't" exist

the input and front output are different spline, the rear output is obviously a handbrake but the same spline as the front output if you need to go that way

Post subject:  Re: transfer flange that "doesn't" exist

the input on mine will be an uprated 1.3 shaft from lowrange any way, so that makes all the splines the same doesnt it?

no idea :)

well at least i know that "some" 1 litre 4x4 switch cases had these flanges.

Maruti.
1.3 splines with 1.0 stud hole pcd.

bugger was hoping that wasnt the case

Why does it matter if it is?
They can still be bought new through suzistore if you were after another.

sounds like a standard 1 litre flange from a case with 4wd switch. but the one in the picture doesn't have the dust shield

i've fitted a 1 litre non switched case to my 1 litre (standard with switch) sierra and the input and front output were same boltpattern. the handbrake drum was different though

Post subject:  Re: transfer flange that "doesn't" exist

There are 3 different 1 litre gearboxes, small 4 speed, large 4 speed and 5 speed.

The small has the same output spline as an LJ and the LJ size flange bolt pattern (from memory about 52mm between holes).

The large and the 5 speed have the same output spline as a 1300 box and the jackshaft has 1300 size flange bolt pattern (from memory about 56mm between holes).

As everyone knows there are also 2 different transfer cases in 1 litres, early non switch and later with switch.

The early case (no switch) has a smaller input and front output spline so a 1300 flange can not be fitted to it.

The later case (switch) has 1300 size input and front output splines so a 1300 flange can be fitted making this the more desirable choice for 1 Litre to 1300 transfer conversion.

WT's have the same spline as a 1300 but an even larger flange pattern (from memory I think 60mm between holes)

Some change over Sierras had the small gearbox and a light switch transfer so flanges had 1300 spline but 1 litre flange bolt pattern.

Maruti's don't have the small gearbox and don't have the small 52mm LJ/1 Litre flange bolt pattern.

but 2stroker, this does fit the 1.3 spline, so what is it from?

Found a handbrake drum in my pile of LJ crap that should work for you Darren. Big internal spline, and LJ/1L bolt hole spacing. Will still need to try it on the 1.3 output shaft to be sure though.

oh, and I don't have a clue where it came from :? 8O

The answer is in the second last line of my long winded post ......

Some change over Sierras had the small gearbox and a light switch transfer so flanges had 1300 spline but 1 litre flange bolt pattern.

Yes that's right Highway Star, the rear output spines are the same on all the transfers so a handbrake of an LJ will go on any of them.

Tanshi are you going to stay with LJ size flanges or change your drive shafts ? are you using LJ, NT or WT diffs ? I am interested in your plans for this build up can yu tell us more.
