Hi guys, Does anybody know if Queensland Transport has adopted the National standards which allow tyres on off road vehciles to be 50mm larger than stock in diameter? I've been getting mixed messages about this and need to get an inspection to approve a Just Cruizin Body Lift. Cheers |

in the road worthy book it says it has to be no bigger than stock but can go an inch wider. |

15mm bigger diameter, 1.3 times wider for IFS, 1.5 times for beam axle there is no national standards yet, its only a draft and the whole thing has only been 15 years in the making so far so dont get your hopes up |

So if the 15mm still applies, how can I determine the stock size for my direct import without a tyre placard and non standard 16x6" Suzuki rims? From what I can work out no 1.6's had the larger rims and the 2.0l had a 5.5" rim. Even better how can I put a tyre placard on it that says 205R16 or 205/80R16 that were on it when I bought it? Chris, the RWC is never likely to be a problem, but to get a legal body lift, I have to go over the pits at QT which I think will be a differnt story. Cheers Rod |

was it brought in under the 15yo import rule? I would reckon in thats case they would know what tires were on it and if your within that you should be OK |

any japenese car 15years or older can be brought in without the need for all the compliance stuff other grey imports have to endure does it have a new compliance plate somewhere and an import vin rivetted somewhere near the original? if not thats probably it |

There is no compliance plate, just a VIN number stamped on an aluminium plate near the Factory ID plate. I had a devil of a time getting it registered back in Dec '05. Could not get a safety certificate until I got it identified by police! from memory, it was first registered in Victoria and there may have been a new body shell involved according to QT. If it is indeed a '92 (and I m only taking QT's word on that), it was not 15 years old when I bought it in Dec '05. Is there a chance that it did not go through all of the compliancing if it came in a few years ago? |

it could also be a personal import, if you live overseas and own the car for XX amount of time you can bring it with you, though I dont know if this would really be feasible for a vitara maybe it was rolled once and they slapped a jap shell onto it? or suzuki (for a while there was no suzuki Australia just importers) brought it over to test? |

I just bought a sierra in QLD with 75mm body lift, 30" tyres and 2" suspension lift. Didnt have any problemswith RWC or rego transfer etc. I dont think anyone really knows what the rules are so ... |
