It has been done.

Any reason why you only want to swap the bottom end?

:D Was trying to simplify,, seems easier to do just the bottom end without getting into the elecronics... ?? Bill

I have heard this has been done with a baleno block, Unsure of any issues during build though..

Hows your clearance between the head and bonnet as is? Obviously the G16 block will make the engine taller.

The jimny mentioned above didn't have a body lift so i dont think it would be to much of a problem

He does have a sierra, with a 1600 block and jimny top end

yeah i run that in mine - im using the suzistore adaptor kit for g16 bottom end, jimny bb top end and computer etc... it means you get to keep the airbox and everything the same and lets you run a purchased snorkel. It also keeps the engine bay very tidy.

Mines in a sierra and no bodylift - it doesnt sit that tall compared to when i had a weber on the top (i had to cut the bracing out of the bonnet to make it fit).

I think your biggest hurdle is an adaptor kit for a 1.6 in a jimny... but im sure someones made them, or at least knows how. If you get stuck www.suzistore.com.au can fab them - and they know suzukis very well!

Thanks for all your inputs. I will get in touch with suzistore and see what they can come up with..
Hey Alien What is the performance like ? I anticipate it to be better than a straight G16 ??

i went from g13a to g16a... that was a massive difference! then about a year and a bit later i put a weber on, another huge difference.. then years later its now efi using the jimny top end and its the difference between 1.3 and 1.6 all over again... it feels like torque has doubled. power feels about the same as the weber but far torquier (is that a word?)... i dont think anyone would ever regret it.

Not sure on straight g16b, but it would put out more power i'd think - the torque band would be questionable though - you'd assume its max torque would be higher in the rev range when compared to a frankenstein style g13bb/g16 engine.

Oh - and dont forget you need to use g16b pistons in the bottom end - so you can use a g16a bottom end but need to change pistons over.

Same as sierra. The BB box bolts into a sierra. Even the internals are interchangable with sierra.

Power of G16B would be more. Same with the torque. But the difference would not be more than 5kw I would imagine.

OK so now I am up to fitting a G16B block in place of my G13BB, still using the G13BB top end and Electronics... The next prob could be fitting up to the Auto box???

Auto will fit the same as the manual will.

PM BenT. He makes the adaptors.

Post subject:  Re: G1.3BB > to 1.6 > engine block conversion ??

i did the exact same conversion about 5 years ago , but i didnt use an adaptor plate as i looked closely at how the torque convertor drove the pump in the transmission , the tangs dont go in that far to start with , then pulling them out an extra what 5-6mm , didnt want to risk it.

modified the bellhousing to bolt to the 1.6 engine , its no big deal as even if the trans needed changing , the bellhousing unbolts and can be swapped over.

1 more thing , alignment is absolutely critical with the auto , i didnt quite get it right the 1st time , and it broke a flex plate every 1000km's , took 2 broken flex plates to figure something wasnt quite right , the alignment was out about .5mm!!

I was also referring to engine mounts, theres adaptors for that too...
