Post subject:  Anti-squeak/rubber grease when changing brake pads

Hiya all,

I'm about to change the front brake pads on my GV. Is it necessary to use anti squeak grease or rubber grease?

I have the service manual and it says to use rubber grease on the cylinder slide pin/bolt. I've never used this grease before when changing pads in the past.

What about anti squeak grease? Where do I put this? I've read about this grease on this forum but there's no mention of it in the service manual.

Cheers,
Ben

Did that come with the pad's?? Black or white grease??

If your slide's are still moving freely I wouldn't worry to much about new grease, if thay are a lil stuck I'd be inclined to clean them well & re-grease with either rubber grease or HTB( high temp bearing grease), most grease that come with gen pad's is for in between the pad & the caliper, the bit's that touch..

I bought Bendix 4WD pads. They didn't come with any grease. I thought maybe I have to buy them extra???

Bendix have a "anti squeal" pad on the back anyway, so as long as your slide's are still moving freely, fit em.. :P
