So I know power steering conversions for sierra's has been done to death and I've searched, so please bare with me guru's

I am fitting a cressida box to a WT sierra and have recently realised the rag joint spacings are slightly off. Due to the fact the rag joint holes are reinforced with metal collets I can hardly slot it out (not that Im too keen on that). So im wondering what have other people done? Is there something from another vehicle or somewhere you can get them custom made or maybe even buy the materials?

when i did it i used a uni joint out of an old car i had cut and welded the stearing shafts to length and had a uni instead of a rag joint. perhaps you can get the stearing shaft from the cressida with the appropriate uni joint

You could always make a new rag joint to suit.. After all they are just a piece of crossply tyre.

True^ But look at the rest of his car..

Every steering box setup has a rag joint for vibration and slight movement between the chassis and body.

I don't run a rag joint, instead i machined up a plate to suit the vit uni to bolt to the sierra shaft with vit powersteer.

On sunday i had very loose steering, like 1/2 turn steering wheel, doing 80km/h. This is not good....

The uni was coming off the box spline! Been there more than a year though.

Isnt everything steel radial? However I do know of a jimny P/S box for $350, which looking through the P/S threads seems cheap. In hindsight I should've done that, but my cressida box, pump and lines cost me like $100, so I'll put up with the fabbing I have to do.

a rag joint is just rubber with canvas through it. I wouldnt go to the extreme of cutting up a wire radial tyre for a small circle of rubber. find a clark rubber or similar, they should have an offcut or something you can use. Or next would be make a adaptor plate. I don't feel more or less vibration with no rag joint.

Lots of caravans & light trucks still run crossply tyres.... You'd get a used one for nothing from a tyre shop.

any side wall from a tyre could be used as the steel belts are only in the tread. (of passenger tyres) Since its on the farm maybe you could find an old tractor tyre ( old being rooted not being kept for a spare) and cut that up
