just wondeing whos put a sierra transfer into their jimny and how did you do it?

ive read a little into it (but not a complete how to) and it seems fairly easy, just need to fab some mounts, change the flanges and shorten the front jack shaft. is that all there is to it or is there more? also how do you connect up the speedo? mines out 10kph atm 2 lol.

also what ratios should i go? i got 30s. mainly want more low range reduction casue i hardly got any and its a pain off road, spesh down hills (there alot of steep 1s @ cruiser park i found out) .

cant afford to get a dg tuning kit or trialjimny gears :( so thats y im considering changing to a sierra transfer.

there is a kit to convert from jimny to sierra... came across it in my web surfing.. and from it wasnt that bad a price.

found this link... but requires a 3 inch body lift :? :? :?

yea ive seen that before, needing a 3" body lift seems pretty stupid. if i do a body lift ill only be going for a small 1 not 3", way to unstable.

I cant find the other one..

From memory the other kit didn't mention anything about a body lift.. Only I am pretty sure it wasn't located in australia

I would try and find a 1L transfer with 4wd switch, make sure you get it with the sierra jack shaft and mounts.

From what i have been told it will bolt straight up, all you will have to do is change the flanges and use the sierra chassis mounts and jack shaft.

The body lift is only because they is scared of the grinder :D

i had a standard sierra transfer in my Jimny. It had a 1.5" body lift but probably didnt need it. I wasnt the one who installed the transfer, it was like it when i got the car so sorry i cant help.

The jimny that i had, had a vss sensor in the transfer. You will need a new one on the sierra case. This is a major part of the conversion, as there is not many "kits". I have seen joeblows one, but noone elses..

you could try the Offroad-armory kit... donno if they ships stuff to here and how much to do it

and in the Big Jimny they explain how to instal it Installing an SJ Transfer Box


or you could go with the local option of Piranha Off road.... they would do all they work for you, including finding a transfer box only for the little price of 5000$ :lol: :lol:


btw have you or any one have search in Japanese websites...... Lately I have seen some websites and Jimnys and whoooooohhh they look awesome, and with big ruber.... almost everyone was using 245 tyres, so they should have some kit arround..... hard to find when I dnt speak japanese hahaha :P

akaik they are diff.

ive seen all the eruo kits and stuff but like i said in the first post, cant afford them. so thats y im asking what to do. also ive looked on import monster and apio but yea i cant read jap so idk what they got lol. import monster dosent have any by the look :(

i emailed off road armoury and dg tuning to see how much the speedo adapter kits are. will wait and see what they come back with.

dose anybody know how to fit the speedo up without a kit?

like I say bfore Piranha offroad is making a deal to make the transfer change for you at a bit expensive price, but as there is not any info in their website yet, maybe you could try to send them a mail asking if they sell only the speedo kit??

ill email them and see what they say. wasnt going to bother casue i think all there jimny gear is way way to expensive.
