Hi there,

Thought i'd try to see what you guys can make of this..

i got my shitbox going after a 2 month buildup and gave it a good flogging at the springs 4x4 park.

It drives very nice and there were a few times it started running like crap.

specs - 1.6 efi with 6.5 t/case and 3.9 diffs with 34s

Fuel system is setup with a tank in the rear with a facet low pressure pump, which feeds the surge tank in the engine bay (surge tank is located where the old battery mount sits)
It then runns from the surge tank to a vl commodore pump which goes to the engine.

Now.... the symptoms...

Flooding in cold morning starts... Ive had to disconnect the high pressure pumps power and let the low pressure pump run and crank it til it starts then hook up the high pressure pump while its running before the engine cuts out.

Drivign up hill - it starts to cut out like possibly flooding and has trouble keeping the revs up. and once it stalls... i have a hard time trying to get it running again.

driving in high range - it starts to take off then splutters like a dog and fails to pick up revs after that, leading me to believe its a fuel issue.

My thoughts...

Move surge tank to the back with the tank - keeping it as close together as possible as it seems that the high pressure pump being too close to the engine causes the fuel puressure regulator to go all silly as the feed lines very short and there wouldnt be much pressure drop ???

By moving the high pressure pump to the back would give it sufficient pressure drop to allow the regulator to regulate the fuel??

Oh and i also had a dirty fuel tank (an old LRA tank and have had to change the filter 5 times already due to rusty dirty shit in there), now its all clean, and seems to be pretty good since then.

Just lookin for opinions in regards to the fuel system - where the surge tank should be and why.

Cheers :)
