Ok whos got one and has painted it. Mines looking a lil sunfaded and sad, but with it being fibreglass I have no idea how to prep, prime and paint it. Or should I take it somewhere to have it re gel coated, etc? Any suggestions? |

ninjamoses painted the fiberglass canopy on his vitara, i think getting the gel coat redone would be pretty pricey... swing past a boat builders & see what they suggest. |

Mine was painted by the previous owner. The glass is pretty fragile and tends to result in the paint cracking off it there is any dings or impact. If you're going with a standard sort of colour available in gelcoat, it would probably be a better option. If painting, best get your prep methods sorted properly. |

Found it. He says. "nah you just use sotchbrite sanding pads as part of the process when rubbing it back and do it with soapy water that way it gets in all the cracks and crevices. I first used a air random orbital sander with 180 grit dry to smooth out the textured look of the fiberglass roof" |

Painting fibreglass is much the same as painting steel... Sand well and use a good primer then topcoat & clear (if desired/needed). |

I geuss gel coat would provide a harder longer lasting finish but may be a bit expensive. |
