Anyone know of a rev limiter box i can fit to my Baleno motor? All too often i look down at the tacho and the needle is off the scale. The old girl is starting to smoke at higher revs hehe.

Stock ECU should have a rev limiter at ~6800rpm. Yours revs past that? :?

Mine has a limiter! Its how i set my arrow in the cluster with the bal tacho!

I never rev to full onroad. No guts in topend. I occasionally hit it being a hoon on dirts though.

Just put a pop rivet in the tacho to limit how far the needle can go... what you dont know, wont hurt you :P

you could run an MSD injection box with a limiter. should help with performance and give you a limiter, win win

Excessive piston speed is usually a very effective limiter. You can't reset it easily though

Post subject:  Re: Rev Limiter

I know for a fact that the Baleno computer i have either doesnt have a limiter, or it isnt working.
As Shep says with his, i can rev the thing until i get float... and lots of engine oil chugging out the exhaust.

Second, 1st was dodgey, second got hot... this one is nicely rebuilt and feels nice!

i have only hit the limmiter once in mine, that was in a deep hole!

u need to keep in mind, in tassie we spend most of our time in soggy goop!

100% a factory Baleno ECU has a limiter. It's set at about 7000rpm from memory. I think you need to know why it's not functioning PJ- Might be a indicator of other issues.

although I'm all for needlessly reving the piss out of your engine there is a reason they make the right pedal go up and down, Its so when your valves start bouncing you can take your foot OFF the pedal.
listen to your motor not the radio

Turn sterring wheel fully to the right.
pick up biggest hammer you can find. Hit wheel arch about three inchess below the two bolts you see.

1 good thump should set the limiter around 6000
2 good thumps should get you about 4500 rpm
4 gets you about 2000 rpm.

This is totally reversible to by using the hammer on the other side

Yeah, I'd rather focus on completing a track in the fastest time possible than worrying about
not blowing up the engine.

jaycar shift light kit, run a relay to short the coil neg when it switches, on carby cars get used to replacing the muffler

I doubt you could make a sierra blow an engine from over revs, you have about 30 seconds to catch it

EDIT: Would you have a diagram of this royce and what relay do I use?

At what rpm is this said valve float that you are getting? Your ECU should have the limiter. I havent seen one reasonably modern EFI engine without one built in as part of teh failsafe software.
