I'm after some suggestions on a fix for noisy hydraulic tappets, other than replacement. Has anyone used an oil additive that has shut them up? |

They have rockers that run on the cam. What engine are you talking about Scrawny? |

My cat was noisy when I lifted it with my foot, so I fed it some Nulon, now it doesnt make a sound... any sound... it may actually be dead... either that or I stink. |

You'll have to replace the worn shims with ones of the correct thickness to stop the ticking noise. Not easy unless you have feeler gauges, vernier calipers, a bucket/spring compressor and a box full of assorted shims. |

I might have to pop the rocker cover off and have a look. I've done shims on 1HZ's before. It does sound more like noisy tappets though |
