its the anti pollution stuff It lets the engine suck warm air in winter when you flick the little lever over on the end of the air cleaner. Most people (read everyone) don't worry about it at all. |

Thay are called a stove pipe, that assist with fuel atomization in cold environment's.. http://www.suzistore.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=345 I wouldn't be to concerned about it missing.. |

You could turn it into a cold air induction pipe!! unless you get temp's of 0 or under I wouldn't bother with it.. |

Mine's still attached. Left the little lever on 'cold air' when fiddling one weekend, and on the way to work on Monday morning it played up like a bitch, battling to get over 60, spluttering and stalling. Flicked the lever to hot air and all was good. Was a pretty chilly morning tho, -4 |

Yeah, I removed mine when I did my snorkel. Car runs like chode when really cold. Drove to ballarat a few weeks ago, it was raining/sleet, running the heater was causing the engine to cool too much, and the carby froze up due to moist air and windchill. Had to pull over and idle for 5 mins every 10 mins to let it go back to normal. really pissed me off. But it was better than being very very cold. I have now decided to reinstall it, in a modifed manner. |

for people with a wt, the vacuum hoses that run through the top of the air filter box are for this, when the intake air is cold it moves the flap itself to draw hot air |
