TOYO RUJ-1783 I have replaced several uni joints and found the outside of the caps (the top part that where the c-clips go) to get covered in surface rust with the Toyo's. Have not seen this happen to Koyo or Hardy Spicer uni's. Probably still very good uni's but i hate the sight of rust. |

They can be a little hard to get out, if you don't have a press, then you can use two sockets (one slightly larger than the uni joint cap, and one slightly smaller). Put the larger one underneath and the smaller one on top of the uni joint, then hit it with a hammer, pushing the uni joint into the larger socket. I found putting the new one in was easier than taking the old one out, just make sure you dont knock any of the bearings over inside the caps when you're installing the new ones. If you're doing a two peice shaft, when you put it back together make sure you align the spline correctly again. (mark it with something before you pull it apart) |
