i know that hilux/commodore are the go for 2 inch but what do people use for higher lifts?

i am topping out the commo shocks that i have in the front and my rears are stuffed calmini jobbies.
i would like to be able to walk into a stupidcheap and just pick up something that works, if possible.

i have spent hours with dickhead parts interpreters trying to find rear shocks,
they don't seem to understand that i don't want sierra shocks.

You see, thay interpret part's, & have no fucking idea how to communicate with people..

Part's don't confuse them by wanting thing's that don't match the Vin.. :P

what length do you need shep? Gabriel do have their lengths listed somewhere...

i need 60mm longer then the vs KYB jobbies that i have on now and i would need to pull a rear out and remeasure it.
from memory it was 690 or 790mm, fairly long anyway.
if i get time tomorrow i will yank one out and measure it.

I got a mate that works at supercheap, I'll see if i can get a catalogue that actually has lengths on it. I found a link to the old catalogue of the gabriel stuff but it is dead now.

using the hiace/lux and commy shocks with 2" isnt ideal.as you know using 50mm spacers up front and 40mm on rear as i do.the extra height with your 4" lift may help here without the need to do bumps?

or i dunno  just go spend 20mins with it flexed up and go from there.

edit:the height wont really make any difference will it.i have to get motivated and one day cut my mounts and move them up to lose the spacers

this is with VS shocks and they bottom and top out. if i jack the front of the car
up off the front bar until both wheels come off the ground, pulling a shock out
lets the diff drop another 50mm.
maybe i need to make some sort of ramp and measure it properly. :?

surely there is an 80 series or something broken that you can use as a ramp

http://www.monroe.com.au/trade-corner/catalogue.html

It has the extended and compressed lengths of all applications in the back of the book under Numerical listings.

be a pain in the arse searching but beats dealing with guys that can't understand the concept that you might want something out of the box.

Try commo sedan instead of wagon. Notably longer. I have them on the Sierra, but run about 70mm of bumpstop extension (which you may not want?), I cannot get the springs to use all the shock length (mind you I am not 4" lifted, probably closer to 3 or just under). Very similar length to what I think are LH Torana rear, which one of my LJ81s had on the front when I bought it.

Can't help with rear, as mine suck

Defender for the rear but needs to be laid over, Triton might be another option

yep commondore sedan is longer, not sure if they have more travel though but I reckon either way you are going to need to make hoops or something
