Post subject:  Stalls With Air Con On

Ever since I've bought my SWB 94 Vit,if I'm driving along with the air con on,then come to a gradual complete stop, the revs go right down to 0,then the engine stalls. When the air con is off, there isn't a problen at all.Does anyone have any suggestion what might be causing this problem. Thanks!

If you hold revs, as in by the throttle, does it still stall, or is it just when you let it do its own thing.

If its the latter, sounds like the carb is not adjusting to the load, can you turn the lights on and get any form of engine response, extra revs,?

Is there a wire detatched off the aircon compressor? Sounds like a load signal wire is not working or missing.

The Load wire will make the idle rise alittle for when the aircon compressor is running, so it doesnt stall or lower revs. Same with the power steering pump.

on the firewall near the brake booster will be a small solenoid with two vaccum hoses and wires going into it. this is the idle up for the aircon. check the wires are ok, lines are ok and the filter (if fitted) is ok. if that is fine have a look at the adjustment of the 'dash pot' that sits on the side of the carby and actuates throttle movement.
