hey guys

Im still relatively new to the whole suzuki scene, i recently emailed a suzuki specialist for a drive in/drive out quote for a 1.6 vitara engine swap on my zook.

Two qoutes, one was $2950 for a carby 1.6 or $3500 for a efi 1.6.

Now they both sound really great prices, however they sound that cheap that its almost something that i could possibly do myself. I can easily remove engines etc etc. However is it even worth dicking round urself gathering the parts that i have no idea what to get anyway, or for that price just let the pros do it as it will also come with a warranty.

Or does someone have a full list on what u need??

Is the engine just a straight drop in etc etc.

I was thinking if this was the case i would source a engine plus pieces, remove mine drop it in then get it trailered to the shop and le them finish it off.

Please any info would be greatly appreciated

My understanding is that you're looking around 800-$1200 for an EFI front cut.

Wiring loom is like being hacked at the nuts with a dull razor blade. Other then that if you are mechanically minded you should be fine.

$3500 seems alot. Someone will correct me if i;m wrong but you could probably do it for half that.

$3500 might seem like a lot but it depends on what you get for your money.

If the motor has had a rebuild before it goes in and you have the convenience of drive in drive out.... Then its maybe not so bad after all... Some places charge a lot more...

Or double that!! Last front cut I got in was almost $1800. The impport low km cuts are getting harder to find.

just wait around and see if you can get a cheap vit efi cheap like the whole car. my brother got one no rego just needed front bumper and new head light and got it for 650 or 750 for the whole car! i think they charge too much for front cuts.... but if you get them to put it in for 3500 i think it would be worth it. and while the motor is out i would look at doing twin transfer cases and do all the lift and that you want done then get it engineered alls war that included in the 3500?

ummm mid 100's....... and all power options got it about umm 8 - 10 months ago. also since the rta is going to be stopping people doing fix up jobs on the crash cars now would be a good time too look at the auctons for a crashed one.... who cars about the car all you need is the motor and then sell of the extras that are good and it might work out cheaper again lol... i might look at this soon..... and then hilux diffs... wooo but wait and see what my hand brake says 1st lol ( the miss's )

lol handbrake hahah i 1st heard that from a roothy 4wd action video,

but yeah im just thinking i might tell them thats sweet but if its much cheaper for me to pull the engine out clean up the bay then sit the new one in there then give it to them.

if its almost a straight bolt in job then im 100% confident that i can do it myself easy.

ok 2nd question how much is involved with fitting a 1.6 (mounting)
does it fit up to the standard 1.3 gearbox?(clutch etc?)
engine mounts?
