As most of you know mine is off the road geting all fixed up after my last trip.......

I took the spare off the back boged all the holes and under coated it but after marsheling i like the look of the no rear door and tyre mounted at the back on an angle sort of sticking just out of where the rear door would of been!

I'll get picks tomorow of what i mean but most would know what i mean if you have been to a comp!

So my question is is it legal to run with no back door?(Mine was a soft top so just the tail gate bit!) Can't really see why not? :?

I am sure there would be some fineprint thing about gas sealing for exhaust that they could get you on, on a ute you dont need a tailgate though

while they may not be able to ping you for it it would make for good attractant for then to take a look at you

I Thought it was law for Side walled utes must have a tail gate??

Or else Subaru would have been able to bring out the Brumby replacement but were knocked back because it had a Rubber Latice like tail gate?

There was an eastern states bloke on the New Inventors a few weeks (months?) ago who had developed an add on thing like this for utes that extended the tray, by laying down the tailgate. I would imagine he must have looked into the legalities of it and wouldn't have continued if it wasn't going to be legal.

PLans have changed a little!

But Royce i'm planing on making a frame and sheet metaling that bottom bit off! 8)

I'm going to comine the both! Mount the spare there and cut the door around it! In vic it's illegal top have no tail gate in case of fumes or some crap! :? SO them combined should be awsome!

Any one see any problems with that idea? No one can steal my spare then either! 8)

Don't bother making a new wall for the back of the cab... Just get another tailgate, trim it down and weld it in. It will look better and already has a nice lip with press studs to clip your back window to. :D

Didn't think of that!

BUT there press studs not those clip thing's and cutting the door would be harder then making a steel frame and sheet metal it? Wouldn't it?

By the way welcome.... 8)
