Hi, tried searching but couldn't find what I was after.

My 96 vitaras reverse lights have stopped working. I have checked the globes and fuses and they are fine. What else could be causing this I'm thinking it's the reverse light switch but I am unable to find this on the 4sp auto.

How did you go with this jono?

I reckon my reverse switch has just shat itself. Fuses, globes are fine. There seems to be no power getting to the globes when i tested it with the test light.

anything i could be missing? Where abouts on the vitara 5speed are the switches and are they easy to replace?

My lights work on and off so haven't really bothered to fix it properly. Mine is an auto and I need to take off the prn switch and clean out the contacts and put it back together. I have seen similar things with xj jeeps (google jeep NSS rebuild for more info)

Yours is a manual so the reverse light switch should be at the back of the engine bay on top of the bell housing area. A new switch can be had for around $20 or so.

Hey mate, Just pull the originial switch out, and spray Heaps of WD-40 Down around the little ball. should sought it out... worth a try for the 5 seconds it takes to pull out
