Post subject:  Need to know how vital these "bars" are?
There's 2 bars running from the back of the seat belt on the b pillar to the tub. Are they a pittyful attempt at preventing the b pillar caving in during a roll over?

Fitted a rollbar and they're scrubbing, want to know if i can just remove them and that's that!

think of which direction the force would be on the seatbelt mount in a smash

think of what part looks to be a brace for that mount

think of what would happen to that mount with no bracing

have a really good look at what they are attached to.....a REALLY good look. then you will see what they are for.........in case of an accident.

to follow that, not that im suggesting its a good idea - but could you remove the support and replace it with another (say 5mm x 30mm flat bar) that does tie to the roll bar?

so it braces the belt mount and holds it in position. I don't see how a hollow bar mounted via a screw to the tub will do much.

Can this be replaced with a flat bar? or a bar with a a thicker wall but smaller diameter?

Why not just weld a tab off the roll bar that will bolt between the seat belt and the piller? Tieing everything in together.

Because it will look crap lol. I'm just geting sick to death of the bar's rubbing on my rollbar.

Lazy way would be just to weld those bars to the rollbar. I want to to be neat though...

Honetly? :roll:
If you welded a tabe 30mm long out of 6/7mm plate onto the B pilla of the cage at the same height as the seat belt, you could solve both problems. Just my 2cents.

Do what ya like but its your fault if something goes wrong and someone gets badly hurt in an accident. Just leave it where it is and work your bars around it.

No it wont look crap it will look good if done properly, it is what most of us do. I don't know what this is out of but it will give you an idea of what we are talking about. Usually we just use flat plate taperinf from around 80mm at the cage down to 50mm at the seat belt mount, you can hole saw a couple of holes in it to make it look sporty if you like.

just because it is small doesn't mean it wont do what it was intended to do.
I will agree a lot of the time that engineers are a pain in the arse but they do know stuff and small doesn't necessarily mean weak

and big as fuck doesn't always mean strong

however you could replace it with something of equal strength but a different shape

Thanks for the picture!

Yes I'm still coming gus, might meet yous there friday night though. Had no luck sourcing a spare tyre annoyingly so might buy a new one.

7 days a week of work sucks, had no time to fix anything :(

I haven't received the UHF I ordered yet :( I doubt it'll come in before I leave.
