Was just browsing ebay (as you do Ebay GV Diff The bit that grabbed my attention was this: Steel casing out of Grand Vitara with welded 4.3 centre. If my thinking is correct - this would mean that you would only need to add manual hubs, and you would have a budget locker in the front when in 4wd... Pros and Cons of this setup? |

yes to being a locker, you can unlock the hubs to get your steering back when you dont need the locker, though times like on the beach when you want 4wd but dont want a locker they are very annoying and make steering through windy sand tracks difficult on a side note, I know of a conglomerate |

Looks like there are a few people I know looking at this as well. I'm happy to go 1/2s in the sale if anyone wants as I only want both cv's. Max I will go is $100ish. |

OK - unless its pretty cheap but at the right price...... I guess would also be more chance of blowing CV's due to the extra strain? Or not a common problem? |

theres many different schools of thought about that, I think there is less chance as you can go a bit slower as you always have drive if a wheel is on the ground, with an open diff you tend to be getting a bit of a run up to clear obstacles and its the free spinning wheel smacking the ground again that pops them though then you get into harder spots with a locker and can put a lot of drive through one CV and cause it to go bang |

hard to imagine how a massive powered 1.3l can do damage like that isnt it but I have seen them snap from the "run-up" and wheels bouncing theory! |
