How can i tell if my steering box is stuffed? Has a bit of play in it, maybe 1/6th turn. What usually goes wrong with them? |

There is an adjusting screw in the top of them. You can adjust them so there is less play. But most will be worn by now. Undo the nut, and do 1/4 turns clockwise at a time. Then test steering. If you do it too much, you wont be able to steer, or it will get hard when you try to steer. Thats because most of the wear will be when the wheels are straight. as there are alot of straight roads, then on turns, they may get tight from lack of wear. I think that is said right. Dont forget to do the nut up again holding the flat head screw in place. It may move if you tighten the nut without holding it. |
