Hi all I have a RD75 "I think" front locker that I want to install chromo axles. I know that the front chromo are 26spline and would have to use side gears off the rear installed into the front, but what does this mean to the locker. can it be reinstalled into the front with the rear 26spline side gears? thanks ahead |

AFAIK you need a rear locker with the chromos... I dunno if you can change the side gears... |

Buy the 26 spline side gear kit from ARB and turn your front locker into a rear, then the Cr-Mo axles will slip straight in... Second time in two days I've typed the same thing.... |

Rd88 is the right locker. So you need side gears out of it |

joeblow has just converted my 22spline front to 26 you need a new gear set (4 gears) as just the sides are not available anymore I'm told |

$350 is also when they have them. I tried to get a set when I was over "warming up" recently. No stock in Australia. |

thats a joke 350 from ARB , I am better off buying a rear locker for a Grand and selling my front. At least I would have a new locker that can run 26spline. |

you know what pisses me off?.....and this is from an engineering point of view....is when people like this, who have very little if not any understanding of gear manufacturing or engineering processes, stating 350 bucks for a set of gears is a joke! go to any 'jobbing' shop that has the ability to make gears and either broach them or cut then with a slotting head (internal splines), and have the right cutters with the correct PA and measurements to do the outside teeth and you will be looking at well over 2 grand for a set of SIX gears. they are one of the most complex machining parts in a manual locker, and as far as i am concerned is a good price. i have the abilaty and machines to make my own, but it's not worth me spending 2 weeks plus making something i can buy off the shelf at a good price and have some warranty. look at all these crappy lockrights you guys are buying.......two 'couplers' that have no internal splines, a very simple ramp style spline on the outside with square edges and pretty much no other complex parts. lets see, they are about 250 to 300 bucks? and that is something i can make in a couple of days. so when you question the price of something like gears please understand the processes involved. |
