| Post subject: | sierra engine mounts with G16a-engine lean |
G'day when previous owner did a G16a conversion in my zook they modified only drivers side engine mount, simply put a spacer made from RHS. hence engine leans on passenger side. is it something i should be worry about or not. when you guys did yours conversions did you modified one or both engine mounts, does your engine sit level or leans? i guess it might be nothing important but it doesn't hurt to know how it should be done properly. thanks kris |

Only the driver's side was modified because the passenger's side is OK as-is. Is the lean causing any problems? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. |

thanks Damo engine lean doesn't cause any problems, as far as i know. i'm just trying to find out if that's how it supposed to be. if that's how you do conversion. I've seen this one: http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/suzuki/s ... ounts.html and was wondering why i have one modified engine mount and one not. low range offers new mounts for both sides so i assumed that maybe i should have both sides modified so the engine sits straight. if that doesn't matter that engine doesn't sit straight than i won't buy or modify anything, don't want to waste money. |

I have moved the centre hole for both engine mounts as one was twisted when only modifying one. With gearbox mount in stock position. Have you got a pic of the rhs one? |

That's weird. With the BenT kit it only uses an RHS spacer on the drivers side and my engine sits straight. What size is the RHS spacer you're using? |

i'll take some photos tomorrow and post them, i have G16a and also vitara gearbox. i think from memory it would be around 25-30mm by 75mm RHS, i've really never measured it |

here are few pics of RHS and engine lean, i guess it leans around 10 no more then 15 deg from straight. i haven't measured RHS but it looks like 40mm, so what do you think do i have to worry about it? RHS spacer bottom view:
RHS spacer top view:
engine from the top, you can sort of see the difference between radiator top and rock cover, they don't line up:
engine lean - see how sump sits:
some old picture of front of the engine, easy to see how the lean look like

That RHS is a fair bit thicker than mine by the looks. I'll try to remember to measure it tomorrow if you like as my engine is out. |

mine is just 25 mm rhs. i wouldnt personally stress about the small amount of lean though |

The drivers mount looks bigger. Not by much. max 10mm? If your eager to staighten it up abit. How is the gearbox mount going to like it? Shifter clearance? Exhaust twist? Are those steering arms bent or is it the camera playing tricks? |

The gearbox mount was the only thing I could think of that may not like the lean. I would have thought one side would be in tension while the other is in compression. Pretty much like when it's resisting torque but full time. |

if you can measure it that would be great mate. steering arms are straight, it was close up picture so it's a camera trick i guess g-box mount is also not sitting even as g-box 7 engine is not, but it's rather impossible to see that |
