i need to talk to someone whos done it. ive been keen for a while. my 1.3s gonna pak it in when im miles from nowhere.

last night i was watching the briz31 tube, there was a dude on there forked out $1000 for a tail shaft!!

3g for a lumpy 1.6 sounds ok

I got a tail shaft cut and welded to length for my Carry Van which I put a 1L & 5 speed in which was a upgraded from the 800cc & 4 speed. That only cost $150 to get the tail shaft cut, a different yoke put on the front + balence and they even painted it black..lol Thanks Gibbs truck parts on the Gold Coaat.

If your going to use your standard 1.3 box and transfer you shouldn't need to worrie about it anyway. Arn't the 1.3 & 1.6 blocks the same?

If you go ahead with it you'll have sooo much more power..

How much of an outlay should i be looking at?? Are balenos cheaper.

My baleno one was a 2002 engine, ie newer than most vit ones you will get. A little bit more work cos its out of a FWD car. I would do it again and am currently looking into if i can do another one into an LJ81. The motor and adaptor to 1.3 gear box cost me $1800. FATZOOK off here also did one of these. I saw one go on ebay last week for $450 but i wasnt quick enough to bit on it.

this one was down on the gold coast, and was a half cut so i would have trusted it coz i would have gotten it running before i payed for it. I bout mine through some one on NBS4x4 , they bought it from a wreckers, mine had 60000 on it when i bought it. The sump i modified grafting in a piece from the baleno one into the front of the 1.3, the bolt patterns are the same, but the baleno has a crank shaft sensor. there are slight changes to be made to the engine 1.3 mounts. Wiring was the hardest part but in any efi swap it will be

did you have a body lift? are there any parts beside the sump that need modification.

Was you baleno engine a twin OHC?

The radiator hoses are non standard, but we just looked at what we needed and picked up some to suit from supercheap. I didnt have a body lift at the time and the fit without was great. Having recently body lifted i realised how much easier things would have been if i had done that first. There are a few little things that need doing which i cant think of right now, It is not a bolt in job, but it was well worthit IMHO.

its a Vitara 1.6. slightly easier to fit, but not as new.

I had a look at one today. Like you said the wiring is going to be the biggest issue.

After talking, searching and listening Im prepared to pay someone to do the whole install job, It doesnt take much to go from a $2500 to a $3500 job if you fry the computer by hooking up the wrong wire..

I just did this conversion for a local club member and it came in at about $3500 when all said and done.

thats alot of money for a 1.6efi why bother put someting desent in there if u want more power,prob work out cheaper and wont throw a leg out of bed like alot of 1.6 efi's do

4age is a poorly built heavy piece of crap, they have bugger all power over a G16

C18 is an old engine that wasnt real good to start with

and neither fit in a sierra well

poorly built,they are a very strong motor,and are not much heavyer than a zook motor,4age being 100kw would help over the 75ishkw 1.6 power with the weight diff

and a ca would have more technology in it that a 1.6efi and a 1.6 efi isnt the newest motor only just newer than a ca

both with alot more after market extras and add ons than the zook motor

i think the money they sell for is a joke for what they are
