Hi I'm looking at putting a g16 engine in my sierra and just wondering is there much difference between the G16a and the G16b performance wise. It will be mostly on-road for now but in the future maybe just for off-road. |

G16a is 8V carby, G16B is 16V EFI. G16B has more power and torque (though the torque is a bit higher in the revs). G!6A would be the easier conversion on account of not having to do nearly as much wiring. |

Yes, most probably... I haven't seen the curves, but I know peak torque is a bit higher in the G16B (only by a few hundred revs though). Really it comes down to the ease of conversion. The B is better, but the A is easier... |

i have had 2 LWB vitara's that had a 8V efi motor in them. |

ive got a swb 8v injection, never had a carbie to compare it to, but have had the 16v, much prefer 8v injection, pulls better low down. |

Im 99.9% sure that all aussie spec 4 door vitaras were 16v efi, im probally wrong though

There are also some imported G16A 16v fuel injected engines getting around. Just to mix it up a bit. If you're going to do a conversion, I wouldnt bother with the carby 1.6. I had one then upgraded to the fuel injected 1.6. The EFI had loads more power than the carby with the advantage of being EFI  Wont stall on hills, no more carby issues not idling.
The only extra work involved is wiring in a high pressure fuel pump and sorting out the wiring for the engine. An auto electrician should be able to sort the wiring out in a couple of hours, or you could get the wiring diagram and do it yourself. It aint that hard. |

I had a imported shorty 1.6 8v TBI donk in my ute for a while. It was a very good motor.

i would like to see these, we have dragged of a few times and i always get left in the dust by miles, even with my g16b.....i got new leads time for a re-race lol.
