Hey guys, Not entirely happy with my Jimny's onroad performance at the moment. Couldn't crack the 80km mark heading to work last night with a headwind up the slightest of a hill (and i mean slight). Found this car, looks in immmaculate condition in the pics, heap of nearly new engine parts. Softtop with only 2 female drivers. I know it isn't exactly an upgrade on my 98 JLX Jimny but it has .7 of a larger engine. Is the 4cyl 2.0L engine in these Vits any good. I don't want to part with my Jimny but i love the look of this softtop and i need to get to work a little more easily/comfortably. She wants 8999 for it? But redbook only says they are worth like 3500-5000? Mitch. |

Well, generally i'd have to say yes...we all know 1 female can't drive. It is a co-op sort of a thing. Mitch. |

$9k is definitely on the expensive side. Mine was pretty much immaculate when I got it early last year for $5.6k. Unless it has ridiculously low km tell em they are dreaming. Motor in them is plenty adequate for a small car. Starts to struggle a bit with tyres bigger than 30" if you don't change the gearing but you certainly won't ever have difficulty doing the speed limit On a side note, can anyone tell me what differences there are between a standard and JLX model on the SV Vits? They all came with central locking/power mirrors/power windows etc so I'm curious just what the upper JLX has going for it other than the sticker? |

depending on the condition/kms that one is getting up there in price. stock they are quite zippy for what they are & put out 97kw standard. see if you can find a hard top as the soft top will annoy you at some stage. in my opinion they are the one to pick out of the whole Vitara line up, pity there was only a really short build run & only around 500 Hardtop SV420's were sold new in Australia. |

My flogged out Sierra can cruise on 80km easy and thats with all the brick like mods i have done to it and im still using a carby 1.3 in it. Fix what is wrong in the jimny and it should fly. B4T |
If you can't crack 80 in the Jimny maybe its time for a service to fix whatever is wrong with it...
x2 something must be wrong.. i can sit on 100kph in 5th gear all day in my jimny, and that is running 30" muddies and no gearing to suit. dont even have to change down for an inclie |

It was against a headwind up a tiny incline (really tiny). It will sit on 100 at 4000 revs, but its not just that. It is a rough ride also and ive always wanted a softtop. Up hills it is really bad. Even the smallest incline and it loses all power. Mitch. |

X 2 Beat me to it... yeah if it cant do 80kph, there is something wrong with it |

you WILL learn to hate a sof top. something is wrong with the jimny. the ride of a stock shorty vit is not that much different to a jimny. cheaper to chuck a bigger motor and new suspension in the jim and it will be far better than a shorty vit. |

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that point Joe. The vits are heaps nicer on road. But there is definately something amiss with the OP's jimny, and I also agree that a G16B jimny (or M16 if its a M series) would be a better setup offroad. |
