Ok, so i had a guy call me today, a mate of a mate of a mate or something thinking i would know how to flat tow a jimny with no true neutral behind his motorhome 
Now never ever even been in a jimny let alone familiar with their transfer set up i said i would aske the oracle. He wants to know if there anyway he can select a true neutral in the transfer case? i hope that makes sence cheers weaves |

I work with a bloke who does a lot of "grey nomad" touring. Towing first a sierra, then a jimny behind his motorhome. Said he has had troubles with both lunching either gearbox or transfer (Can't recall which) due to oil starvation. He had identical troubles with both and the join that repaired them said it was common with towed zooks. A common complaint of grey nomads. His solution was to fit a rear disconnect. Quick and painless when it was time to set up camp and go driving. |

There's a company that convert em to a braked trailer, I think that use rear disconect & a servo on the brake peddle, not cheep tho.. |

I actually saw a new model SWB GV being towed behind an enormous Camper/home on wheels, with all 4 wheels on the road, they had a A frame setup onto the camper tow hitch... i was amazed to see that, didnt get any pics as i was driving at the time... but yeah, it would just add wear to it without even being driven on a trailer would be the way to go...

on a trailer would be the way to go...i seen this in NZ aswell. ill steer him towards a rear disconnect. losfer, if you want to pm me or post some contact details, i can swing the details his way, but im also unsure of his budget weaves |

on a trailer would be the way to go...we towed a gq patrol behind a 40' bus around oz a framed with 4 wheels on the ground. Had to leave the keys in the ignition to keep the steering lock off and put the transfer in neutral from memory never had a problem. going down long hills dad would get me to sit in the car with it ideling and use the brakes when he did as the bus brakes would overheat after a while. we took the car off a few times going down hills at first then tried it with the car on it was acctually better with the car on to use the car brakes to help the bus fanc that. as for doing it again the old man recond he would get a smaller car and put it on a trailer. |

on a trailer would be the way to go...The current GV's have a true neutral in the T/Case that the owner's manual says is specifically for flat towing. |

Wouldn't happen to be Bob Carlisle would it? He asked me how the Jimny went when i went to see him about my wedding rehearsal at his chapel. I have seen jimnys put on a tommy lift sort of fork thing. Drive side on to the rear of the camper and it hoists the car. Shitload of weight on the arse end...but i HAVE seen it, so it can be done. |

This guys name is John. And i'm unsure of any of his setup or his budget. Does anyone know of a rear disconnect for the jimny? |
