If it's just for starting just get a std one. No need to fork out large $$$$ if ya only starting the car. |

So nothing special still. Std battery still will only still hold 12 volts (or there abouts) You might look at upgrading the Alt to a larger one. I think the std alt is only about 45 or 55amps. (someone will correct me I'm sure) |

Unless running a winch or other stuff, no need for deep cycle or large capacity, large CCA etc. If running some spotties etc. If you need much bigger battery, probably need bigger alt. I bought an exide battery with 3 yr warranty from kmart... it lasted a year (i went and got my $ back from kmart instead of replacing it). I have had a few cheapo batteries fail too. I suspect it is the vibrations killing them. Picked up a second hand optima yellow top from the wreckers for $40 (with 1 month warranty). It's been fantastic, a new one is about $600 |

I would suggest a 4WD/Marine Battery, they are vibration and shock resistant... and go for one with 9 or 11 plates, for that bit extra grunt... while a std battery would be ok, i would go for a mid range battery, its nice to know it has a bit extra more than std... for the Vit you will be looking at $80 to $120 for one, keep an eye out for Auto store sales, i got one for my GV for $50 off doing that... as for make of battery, just dont get a generic cheapo one, most come with a 12 month warranty, but the Supercharge one i got, has a 3 year warranty... |
