Ok so ive got a 1999 2.5 V6 Grand Vitara but have no idea on the fluid quantities it needs.

Does any know the engine, gearbox, t/case, front and rear diff and radiator fluid ammounts and recomended types?

Front & rear diff's are .9 each & Epx80/90
Eng I think is 5.6 with a filter, start with 5 tho cause I could be wrong, I use castrol Protec 10w30, seam's to keep the chain's SSSSHHHHHH.

Transfer is I think 1.9, could be 2.4 tho..80/90

Auto's have no set service schedule, it's simply a check condition, I have only had to replace once in a high km car that tow's..

If I remember I'll look it up tomorrow for the exact amount's....

Thanks heaps for that. What about the manual box?

The biggest problem ive found so far is finding Radiator hoses. there are no after market ones listed in any books the parts places have.

Don't think you will get em non gen for a while, only ever replaced em from physical damage, have some car's with 260k + on em..

The man box take a bit but can't remember exact amount
I think it's 3.8, I run vmx 80 in em, but the diesel's 80/90 cause of the stupid idler gear..tis noisy with Vmx..

Fuel - 56L SWB - 66L LWB
Coolant - 8.0L
Engine Oil - 5.5L
Transmission Oil - 2.6L Man - Auto 2.5L
Differential Oil - 1.0L Front - 2.2L Rear
Transfer - 1.7L

For the pan, but if the valve chest or the torque converter losses any fluid you will need around 8lt's..

Just checked again, definitely says 5.5L... but, Suzistore said it would be closer to 6L, once the oil filter has filled up... its a damn shame they dont make 6L oil packs, have to buy 2 just to fill it up...

They are only for the SQ416 & SQ420... not the SQ625...

Opps... on closer inspection... some mention SQ625, but i have a feeling it will be like the Haynes Sierra/Vit service manual, much more sierra then vit...

They are the proper suzuki service manual nothing like those crappy haynes manuals.The reason it states the SQ416 is because it is the first in GV model numbers ie SQ416 SQ429and SQ625. The same bodies but just with the G16, J20 a H25A engines respectivly which are all listed in the manual.

I cannot get the link to work from here( bloody russians). What is the best way to upload 58mb of PDF so everyone can get a copy???

The copies of there service manuals on the net have missing sections the bulk of manual is there but there are some parts that are missing. Got them over 2yrs ago now, no idea where but you could try pirate net or other file sharing services.
And it is 5.5 ltrs (engine oil)which is fucked cause I use fully synthetic and it aint cheap and near impossible to find 1ltr top up bottles.
Also replace your air filter with a K&N. No probs with dust sand mud etc.Over 50,000kms on it.

Some take 5.4, some 5.5, some 5.6..
I've even put 5.8 in one.

watched an apprentice put 7 in before he saw the oil running out the sumpm plug hole..

use the dip stick, that's what it's there for...

did an oil change on mine as the old oil was making the motor noisy. Un known how long it had been since its last change. I used 20w50 coz thats all i had here. man it made a difference to how much chain rattle it had. Put 5ltrs in it coz i didnt know how much to add. will top it up later.

the top hose of a VN/ VP commodore if cut in the right spot will give you both the top & bottom hoses for a SQ625...
costs about $17.00 from ripco....

just line up the two hoses so they fit best over the new commo one and cut.... simple.

if I remember Macbear I will burn them to cd and bring them along to the trip on the 28th. haven't noticed any missing bits though. It has engine,transission,chassis,body,electrical and general diagnostics in it. i have read this thing like a book and it has all the info I need,

I would say 20W is a bit to thick at cold start for a GV...
Well the owners manual says preferred oil is 10W30, but i think that is for milder climates... my Suzi mech put in 15W40 Semi-Synth, its good, but i would prefer an easier flowing 10W oil, as i can get timing chain rattle on cold mornings... so next oil change, i will be asking for a 10W40 Semi-Synth or even a 10W50, which gives the oil more stability at higher temps, in a Semi Synth, which is good when out 4wheelin and the engine is working hard... hope that helps...
