A quick question, I looked through some old topics but was unable to come up with a definative answer. I am about to buy new rubber for the GV. Now I fitted 2" lift, and was considering a set of BF Goodrich A/T Ko 235 75 R16

Question I need answered is, with the 2" lift, where and how much rubbing can I expect from these, and should I be looking at mayve the 225 70 R16 instead? I like the idea of the slightly higher profile and extra width, but not if it means hacking too muchoff the car just yet.

Give Bruce a PM. He has Coopers 29" on his GV I think thats as large as you can go legally.. Personally the BFG's are a bit on the expenceive side. Maybe look at the MAXXIS range as they are also a USA tyre with very similar specs as the BFG's but a fair bit cheaper.. Ive had a set of MAXXIS Buckshot Mudders on my Vit for 1.5 years and they perform great on & off road. :wink:

Their Buckshot Mudder's are almost the same tred pattern as the BFG M/T.. But if you doing mainly road k's and beach work go something in the Bravo range.

pretty sure runs 225/75 R16 wth the mudflaps removed and youll need to trim some of the front bumper, note though that in QLD they are still an illegal tire cause they are too big but there not much else you can do bar fitting stockers to them as they are a funny size

Yep. So I found out a couple of years ago, I refuse to go standard sizing again as the choice is too limited and the quality of tyre in that size far from reliable. :(

So it's bigger and better! :twisted:

Actually don't mind me, I am blind as well as slow. :lol:


Just saw ZX1990's thread about the 29's he has just fitted, think I will stick with that but in the 225 intead of 335 series to avoid any major clearance issues on inner guards etc. 8)

Yeah - I was also interested in the 235's - but I don't think you could go bigger than the 225's without some more serious problems....

Even the 225's are rubbing slightly in the rear on full flex - nothing a bit of massaging won't fix though...front it fine - slight shiny spot on the chassis, and a clean spot on the inner gaurds - so only a gentle touch on full lock 8)

Well the tyres arrived this week and we fitted them up Yesterday, very happy with the way it came out:
