Was just heading to the GC when the bonnet latch gave way at 100kph! Nice old bang was enough to drop the rear view mirror off, and leave me a new dinged up panels to fix. Bonnet latch has completely snapped. A bit scary in motorway traffic.

Spewing, there goes my roof rack money...

Anyone got a bonnet for sale?

Not a good idea to drive around using that bungy strap on the front either.

how does the release cable snapping make the latch undo though?

that really sucks man... your paint looks like it was pretty good too!

Make sure you replace the latch... It's not your cables fault, it's job is to make opening it easy

I put on all my 4wds the exterior jeep or early tojo style clips to hold the bonnet down, cheap, very effective.

Not too sure what exaclty failed, but the bonnet cable pulled straight through when I just tested the latch mechanism... that shouldn't make the latch release though, should it?

Easy enough to fix the paint, i'll find a new panel and roll on some more protec... the one benefit of a dodgy paint job is it's easy fixed.

I can deal with the bonnet replacement, the worst part is the damage it did to the paneling above the windscreen... hope that can be straightened out
