Starter drive, the bit that contact's the flywheel, has a clutch in it for once the eng running..
you could strip, clean & re assemble, but will do the same in no time..

could be time for a new starter. I pulled my starter out and cleaned it many times as it wouldnt disingage properly, the fix would only last a month or so and would get worse each time. I cbf pulling it apart anymore so i bought a new one.

i once saw a guy put a barb air fitting on his, and air pressure from a tank get slammed through it after a mud run or has positive pressure running through it while in the mud..... i thought it was a smart idea

mate had that in his disco, also had it running to, dizzy, diffs, gbox, transfer and winch gearbox.
