Post subject:  Suzuki Vitara SV620VH Type1 Help

Hey Guys,

I usually hang back and just watch the forum happenings go on, But today i finally decided to join ( yay me )

Anyway more onto the reason i joined, i have a Suzuki Vitara SV620VH Type1 V6 2.0L Auto that for the most part co-operates and i haven't managed to kill it yet usually clocking about 300 - 360km out of about 40L of fuel around town. Until recent times it's decided it would only like to do about 200Km out of a tank. ( starting to think a box rebuild maybe in order ( its still on the stock box)

Any ideas on what the culprit might be it has about 240,000 on the clock btw

any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated :D

Big jump in fuel consumption. Is the car sluggish, especially on the highway compared to normal? It may be in limp home mode. Are you getting any fault codes?

I would say check air filter and all the rest but these wouldn't be a factor in such a huge economy loss of 150km! Dang!

Save me looking up model no. Is the car manual or auto?

chea, tell me about it, its a 2L auto, the new bullbar and snorkel get fitted Thursday ( so it should help with the airfilter side of things as it was my first thought as well) Weird part is no warning codes at all. Its driving me nuts. I have read it maybe my timing being slightly out or the bolt for the timing belt is loose, i may have a look later tonight.

they have a timing chain not belt so it wont be that unless it has slipped which is highly unlikely id say a sensor has crapped itself

o2 sensors might be on their way out & it's overfueling?

Thanks guys, I tend to agree with all those points and will be checking the lil gremlins tomorrow.

While we're here i'll post it in the appropriate section later but anyone wanting my steel powder coated bullbar ( black) comes with spotties i have a new setup being fitted Thursday the better suite my needs.

Make an offer.

+1 on oxy sensor. How does it idle?

Egr valve?

it idle's ok, I know my idle air control valve is playing up but finding a new one or a decent recon one isn't the easiest thing in the world to find ( wondering if an import from the states would fit, or if i can source on locally any ideas ? )

EGR valve its possible, after poking around my engine bay briefly trying to keep the mrs off my back around making a mess i will replace the o2 sensors and get hold of an EGr valve just to be sure and see how it goes.

Thanks guys for your input :) its much appreciated.

Suzuki never used the 2.0 V6 (H20A) in a US market vehicle, so parts may not be available, unless of course, they were also used on the 2.5V6 (H25A) - you might have better luck trying to get parts out of the UK or Europe.
