So WHEN your seal's leak, you can watch $120 worth of oil spill on the ground??
The pic's you post show you like mud, mud bugger's seal's & wheel bearing's, so I'd say no, no it's not worth it..

well i have been thinking i have a few $$$ in my transfer, might be worth running "the good oil" what is the redline shock proof like? i have sceen its around $60 a ltr is it worth it? Phil |

I love it, all my cars run on it except the donks and they run Mobil 1 Its very light, 80-90 is the same weight as sae 30, less power drain, more power to the wheels for nothing except the oil cost. like stekky says but, no leaks, very expensive otherwise. |

i used to own a 180sx and alot of my friends still own sports cars. never actually used it myself but my mate used it in his gearbox once that had a couple of crunchy gears and once he used the redline oil there was no crunching and he could shift alot quicker. like stekky said though mud + rubber seals + expensive oils = expensive and possibly a waste of time. but its your money... |

I've used it in my daily drivers box for ~ 10 years. The stuff is the best gear oil ever. I don't see a need in a zook transfer personally, but if you want peace of mind go nuts. |

I run heavyweight shockproof in my gearbox, and transfer. I chose heavyweight based on the increased torque loading of 6.5:1 transfer gears. IT flows like 90W but has the pressure point characteristics of 240W
Don't underestimate its ability to creep past seals. I think its higher viscosity tends to make it creep out of seals that mineral oil won't. I lost a transfer case full of it out of a weeping rear output shaft seal. I didn't realise how little oil I had in my transfer until the input shaft bearings started to make grinding noises and a I had a transfer case full of mud. Just my 2C. I'd run it, but as per the other comments, make sure you ensure all your seals etc are in top condition. Steve. |

Bit of a grave dig but 6 years on what are people's opinions??? Is it width while insurance or is it like putting fuel additives in and no real gain other than self happiness. I brought some on a whim the other day. At $120 for 3.85l it's not more expensive than the Penrite full synthetic I usually buy which is close to $60 for 1.5l though it go's on sale at repco any time I go to bye it. |
