Hey guys and gals,

another N00b question...

My girl has a 00 Jimny, just wondering if any one had any advice on a lift kit, from what i've been told the OME suspension runs pretty well under it, i have also been advised to extend the brake lines when we do lift it, we're only looking at 2" Lift atm, any other advice???

Think twice about getting the tough dog kit. Its pretty harsh.

OME gives a little less lift, but you can actually drive cars fitted with their suspension

Tough dog springs are well designed its the shocks that are shit!!! the springs work very well with a rancho or probably an ome too.

I run jimny tough dogs in my coily, 8 out of 10. Haven't sagged at all in the last 3months, my old Ironman coils sagged more in the
mail than the the tough dogs have in my car.

Tough dog is a harsh ride but works well off road and as for the brake lines you only need to extend the brake line if you go over 80mm.

A good mate of mine fitted them to his jimny on the advice of others. The shocks were the big bore ones, and without exageration, I felt physically ill after 30 mins in it; as did my mate.

TD came out, OME went in, and it stayed that way for 2 years until he sold it.

So I guess it comes down to personal preference

Big bore ones? Aren't they designed for Cruisers and Patrols.

Might be where he went wrong.

Thats what they sold to him in the 'KIT'. They would be a little short for a patrol

tough dog 80mm lift is what i run in mine, because its the biggerst kit in australia and because my work sells them,
they come with a gas shock.
if they where big bore shocks they would be adjustable, and there is no physical way u would get them in. (i tried that with mine)
u may possible have HL coils (heavy lift) which means they will carry abit more wait, i have them in mine cause of the gear we have and it works well of road.
but as you said fatzook, personal preferences

If you want a road handling car get a Vit...

i had OME, very soft, almost too soft, throws you around like crazy offroad,

to be honest i prefer TD after a comparison offroad with vermins jimny.

if i was to get another suspension setup though it would be a mix, not one of these 'kits', eg. i would have king springs and lovels shocks or something like that.

dont need to extend brake lines, just watch the front ones when you install them, mine had to be stretched to the limit to get the springs in.

also if you go down the OME road, make sure the drivers side spring is on the right side, and its a rear spring not a front one, which is weird.

either way im sure you will be happy. its better then stock.

Yeah it sucks that you can't buy a well balanced kit

I can't speak for the jimny, but a Vit with kings springs and Koni adjustables is pretty nice Firm but not harsh. And it doesn't wallow around either.

Yeah I reckon kits probably aren't the best way to go.

vermin actually gave me his 40mm TD springs and i was gonna try em out on my jimny with the OME shocks, i reckon that might produce a good ride.

good stiff springs for offroading and nice soft absorption from the shockies.

either way stocker, let us know how you go and what you think of the ride, before and after. then PICS!!!!!

possibly, im still learning a lot, but only base my opinion on me car going over bumps and vermins car. and his was much smoother, whereas mine we were thrown around pretty badly.

i got the 80mm tough dog kit in mine, i do agree its a bit harsh but i still think its a pretty good kit. flexes pretty good off road and its stable on road. overall im happy with it.

lol thanks for the advice dude's. from what i can see. most people are running a bit of a mix. i might get her to do the same. i know the OME Shocks are nice and soft so i might get her to go with them, with a set of the TD Coils. might make for a balanced kit?? well... hopefully
